I’ve volunteered with Impact since 2014, and been a staff member for the last few years. In my other life I work at Cat's Protection in the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion team. I’ve also worked with Stonewall, and have a lot of knowledge and experience in LGBTQ+ issues, and inclusion and diversity in general! I live with my partner and our menagerie of animals. I love crafting, making things and keeping busy - I will always have a project or two I am working on. I also have a horse that I ride and compete when I have the time.

Shwmae! I’m Christian (he/they) and I’ve been volunteering with Impact for several years. Supporting LGBTQ+ young people is very important to me. I was awarded Stonewall’s Youth Volunteer Award in 2015 for an anti-homophobia project I ran in my former secondary school. Since then I’ve worked for lots of different young people’s organisations, with a particular focus on equality, diversity and inclusion. I’m also training to be a fully qualified youth worker. In my spare time I enjoy travelling, reading, and learning more about our rich LGBTQ+ history.

Fennec (they/them)

As well as volunteering at IMPACT...

I am a Queer, disabled, neurodivergent volunteer. I am a parent to several lgbtqia, disabled, neurodivergent now adults. I enjoy arts, music, comics and manga, zines, board games and TTRPGs.
I work as a school based counsellor (so you may know me by my other name... Fennec is my preferred one but the other one doesn't bother me).
In work I help the team with Queer, lgbtqia, and GRSD issues as I did further qualifications in this area.
I volunteer because I think its important to provide safe spaces for young people to find out who they are and be able to form a community of peers.

Hey, I'm Blaze. I've been with the group for almost three years now. Starting off as a volunteer, then becoming a regular staff member after interviews with the young people. I'm short, and regularly get mistaken for one of the young people! I'm not sure if that's a good thing, but it helps sometimes! I'm very lucky to be part of such an amazing group.

Hi I’m Emily!
I’ve worked in a number of provisions within Cathays Community Centre since 2022, having joined Impact in March 2023.

I feel strongly about inclusion and promoting diversity having grown up both queer and neurodivergent.

I’ve have an interest in almost anything creative, specialising in Art at university, and having previously run a charity that redistributed art materials with two friends.

When I’m not working or painting, I enjoy cooking and live music.
