This blog features insights from our Trustees.
Hello there,
My name is Pamela, how do you do?
I’m so excited to be writing the pilot trustee blog for CCYCP. This blog will be giving more insight into what we do as Trustees and the decisions we make behind the scenes for the betterment of CCYCP so our beneficiaries get as much out of the centre as possible! Also, the blog has been introduced to remove any perceptions that Trustees are ‘intimidating’ or ‘scary’ and to allow our beneficiaries and staff members to get to know us as normal people – just like you!

About Pamela
I have been a trustee for CCYCP since May 2025. I was introduced to the centre in 2022 during my second year of university after meeting Isobel, our treasurer on Caroline Street (better known as Chippy Lane). I then volunteered as a Duty Manager for about a month before being offered a paid role for the same position. I worked on and off at the centre for the next year before graduating in 2023. I moved back to my home town Slough where I currently still live but missed the centre very much. I decided to apply to be a Trustee in February 2025, was voted in by the committee in April and officially became one in May. I currently sit on the Development committee and the upcoming Jon Wilson Youth Music Project committee. Outside of these responsibilities, I work for my local youth club, Britwell Youth and Community Project (BYCP) as the Fundraising and Admin Officer and right now, I’m also freelancing in media and communications for two other voluntary services in Slough. In my spare time, I enjoy watching documentaries, current affairs and trying new things (the last month has been Pilates).
Things I’m Excited For & Working Towards
As mentioned, Bud will be leaving at the end of the year and so we want to strengthen the connection between Trustees and staff members & beneficiaries. In our last Trustee meeting, it was agreed that we would become more proactive for the centre during this transition period and hopefully after as well. Some of the trustees have taken on work assisting staff members with safeguarding, policy and communications work, just to name a few. Bridie, the company secretary has been brilliant in offering work for us to do, for example I have been tasked with creating a skills matrix for the Trustees so we as a management committee and the wider CCYCP family are aware of everyone’s skillset and who may be best to take on various responsibilities in the future.
Apart from this blog, I will be working on creating more communications with the social media team. We want to start creating more material for potential beneficiaries, partnerships and even funders. I have great confidence that we’ll deliver this material in a way that captivates our existing audience and educate those who aren’t familiar with the work CCYCP does.
The (Jon Wilson) Youth Music Project committee also held the second of three meetings per year in July. Firstly, it was a chance to see everyone who’ll be involved in this project; we have a variety of people who all have different projects going on inside and outside the centre with music-based experience. If there’s one thing about the staff that work at CCYCP, it’s that most of them love music – whether that’s gigging and performing solo or with bands, singing, writing, playing guitar or even music production, we are never short of staff with a passion for music!
So in this meeting, just being introduced those who’ll be involved in the delivery of this project gave me great assurance that the project will be delivered by those who are genuinely passionate about allowing young people to have access to gaining skills in music. The meeting was mainly to bring initial ideas and thoughts to the table and begin mapping out the foundations for what this project will look like day-to-day and who our main beneficiaries for the project will be. The two trustees who will be involved in overseeing and delivering the project are myself and Khalid (who by the way released a whole album in the last two years!). I am so excited to see the everybody’s collaboration and ideas come to life to tackle youth inaccessibility to music participation!
