More than 100 artists from around the world and Wales will create artwork in Grangetown, Butetown and Central Cardiff for the first Meeting of Styles Cymru festival.
We want this festival to raise awareness of graffiti as an art form, changing the often negative narrative behind it and really show how HipHop culture can bring communities together. Meeting of Styles is an international street art and graffiti festival that celebrates creativity, and cultural exchange among artists from around the globe. Wales will join host countries including Germany, Finland, Sweden, Indonesia and the Philippines since the festival began in 1997. It’s free to attend and the festival hub is stationed at Canopi. Visitors will be able to buy a walking tour ticket, organised by The Wallich, where people who have experienced homelessness will guide you through art in the local area.
Bydd dros 100 o artistiaid o bob cwr o Gymru a'r byd yn creu gwaith celf yn Grangetown, yn Butetown ac yng nghanol Caerdydd fel rhan o ŵyl gyntaf Meeting of Styles Cymru.
Rydyn ni eisiau i'r ŵyl hon godi ymwybyddiaeth o graffiti fel ffurf gelfyddydol, gan gael gwared â'r naratif negyddol sy’n aml yn gysylltiedig â’r grefft, a dangos sut gall diwylliant HipHop ddod â chymunedau at ei gilydd. Gŵyl gelf stryd a graffiti ryngwladol yw Meeting of Styles, sy’n dathlu creadigrwydd a chyfnewidfa ddiwylliannol ymhlith artistiaid o bob cwr o’r byd. Bydd Cymru’n ymuno â’r rhestr o wledydd eraill sydd wedi cynnal yr ŵyl ers ei sefydlu ym 1997, gan gynnwys yr Almaen, y Ffindir, Sweden, Indonesia a’r Philippines. Mae’r ŵyl hon yn rhad ac am ddim, a chanolbwynt yr ŵyl fydd The Canopi. Bydd ymwelwyr yn gallu prynu tocyn taith gerdded, wedi’i threfnu gan The Wallich, lle bydd pobl sydd wedi profi digartref yn eich tywys o gwmpas yr ardal leol i ddangos darnau o waith celf.

Supported By
The festival has been made possible by partners, including paint sponsor Loop, and funding from Arts Council Wales, Community Foundation Wales and FOR Cardiff. Carolyn Brownell, Executive Director of FOR Cardiff said: “We are thrilled to support the Meeting of Styles event coming to Cardiff. Public art is a vital ingredient in making places that people want to spend time in and this event's combination of bringing world class talent to the city and developing local artists. We can't wait to see what new artwork is produced throughout the event.” “We hope that the festival will inspire up and coming artists, as well as local people who will gain an insight into the strength of community in creating together.” Mae trefnu’r ŵyl wedi bod yn bosibl diolch i bartneriaid fel Loop, noddwr y paent, a chyllid gan Gyngor Celfyddydau Cymru, Sefydliad Cymunedol Cymru a FOR Cardiff. Dywedodd Carolyn Brownell, Cyfarwyddwr Gweithredol FOR Cardiff: “Rydyn ni’n falch iawn o gefnogi’r digwyddiad Meeting of Styles sy’n dod i Gaerdydd. Mae celf gyhoeddus yn elfen hanfodol o greu lleoedd y mae pobl eisiau treulio amser ynddynt, ac mae’r digwyddiad hwn yn gyfle i ddod â thalent o’r radd flaenaf i’r ddinas, ac i ddatblygu artistiaid lleol. Rydyn ni’n edrych ymlaen yn fawr at weld pa waith celf newydd fydd yn cael ei greu yn ystod y digwyddiad.“ “Gobeithio y bydd yr ŵyl yn ysbrydoli artistiaid newydd, yn ogystal â phobl leol, a fydd yn cael blas ar gryfder cymuned wrth iddynt ddod at ei gilydd i gyd-greu.”
