Community Support Project

By 15th June 2022No Comments

Well-well-well, another 6 months have passed from our last update in the annual report and the Community Support Project continues to move forward!

Since last you’ve heard from us some things have changed; we’ve said goodbye to some members of staff, we’ve welcomed new service users and we’ve also inducted new members of staff into our little cult.

We’ve been on day trips to Barry and Llantwit Major, watched Web-Slingers learn that “with great power comes great responsibility” and save the day in the cinema, we’ve crafted our own take on Taco Bell classics in the kitchen and baked cakes and sweet treats, made use of the new Media Room at the centre to play video games, been plodding around ponds at Heath Park, bowling big numbers at bowls club on Friday night and making use of our brand spanking new sensory room, which we (and more importantly) our service users love!

Aeron John: “It’s a really exciting time to be involved in a project like this. We’ve recently had funding through from the council which will be put to training our staff how to sign in Makaton, which is a sign language that many of the young people we support use, either as their primary method of communication or in conjunction with speech; this will allow us to better meet the needs of our service users.”

With the addition of our new members of staff, we will be looking to increase the number of sessions we provide weekly and continue to grow as a project.
